Guitarist Yuri Rhodenborgh graduated not so long ago from the conservatories of Tilburg and Rotterdam. He soon joined a number of talent development trajectories such as the musical pressure cooker Criss Criss Europe (conducted by Bojan Z) and the Netherlands Youth Jazz Orchestra (conducted by Ruben Hein).
His selection for talent development club the Music Hub Brabant opens up even more possibilities for him. Coming from the his familiar jazz environment, he will choose a completely different course within the Music Hub and explore the alternative pop circuit.
In 2016 Yuri Rhodenborgh founded the Redbourg Group (then Redbourg Quartet). The international 6-piece band played at stages and festivals such as Paradox, BIRD, Dizzy and Jazz in Duketown, and reached the final of the Leiden Jazz Awards. In their music, the sextet explores the link between contemporary jazz and classical music from the 19th and 20th centuries, as can be heard on their debut EP Trælanipan (2018). The music of the Redbourg Group is full of unexpected twists - inspired by composers and guitarists Reinier Baas and Kurt Rosenwinkel , and through the works of Maurice Ravel and Olivier Messiaen. Classic harmonies, floating melodies and ripping guitar lines.
